English-Speaking Internal Medicine in Budapest

Internal medicine is the specialty that looks at the body as a whole: the complaints that do not belong to one obvious organ, the symptoms that have been going on for a while, and the findings that need someone to put them together. At Budacare Medical you can see an English-speaking doctor for a private internal medicine consultation in the 1st District of Budapest.

Internal medicine

When to see an internist

An internal medicine consultation is the right choice when the question is not a single symptom, but what is going on overall – and what should happen next.

Consider a consultation when

📅A complaint has lasted longer than expected
🧠Several symptoms at once, unclear how they connect
✈️An existing condition, away from your usual doctor
📄Results or documentation that need explaining
🔍You want a thorough assessment, not a quick answer

If you are not sure whether this is the right appointment for you, call us on +36 30 630 6969 during opening hours and we will tell you honestly what to book.

🛡️

When to call 112 instead

Budacare Medical is not a hospital emergency department. If you have severe chest pain, difficulty breathing, signs of a stroke, loss of consciousness, severe bleeding or another life-threatening emergency, call 112 immediately. Do not wait for an appointment with us.

Two different visits

An acute visit and a follow-up are not the same

Acute assessment

Something is wrong now and you need to know what it is and what to do about it. The doctor examines you, arranges any examinations that are needed, and explains the findings the same visit where possible. If your complaint is sudden and urgent, see urgent care in Budapest instead – that page covers same-day and walk-in options.

Follow-up and ongoing questions

You have already been seen – by us or elsewhere – and the question is what the results mean, whether things are moving in the right direction, or what to do next. A follow-up is a shorter, more focused conversation, and it can often be handled as an online medical consultation.

The consultation

What happens during a consultation

Bring any documentation you have, in any language. The whole consultation runs in English.

1

History and examination

The doctor asks what is happening, since when, what makes it better or worse, and what you have already been told or tried – followed by a physical examination appropriate to your complaint.

2

Examinations, where needed

If laboratory tests or imaging would change the answer, the doctor explains why, and the practice coordinates them – see imaging and diagnostic coordination.

3

Explanation and plan

You leave knowing what the findings mean, what the reasonable next steps are, and what would justify coming back sooner.

Diagnostics

Working with diagnostics

Internal medicine depends on getting the right examination at the right time. Laboratory tests are available on site. Imaging examinations – X-ray, CT, ultrasound and MRI – are coordinated by the practice.

Diagnostic appointments can often be coordinated quickly, subject to medical need and partner availability. How imaging and diagnostic coordination works
