What an online consultation is – and what it is not

Speak with an English-speaking doctor by video for general medical guidance and advice on appropriate next steps.

A video consultation cannot replace a physical examination. The doctor cannot examine you, take samples or perform imaging over video, so a consultation cannot on its own establish a diagnosis or set a treatment plan. Where an in-person assessment is needed, the doctor will tell you clearly, and you can be seen at our clinic in the 1st District.

When a video consultation can help

These are the situations where a conversation with a doctor is often the sensible first step:

🤔Unsure whether to be seen today
📄Documentation from home to review
📋Discussing results after a visit
🚗Outside Budapest or hard to travel

If you are not sure whether a video consultation is right for you, call us on +36 30 630 6969 during opening hours and we will tell you honestly whether to book online, come to the clinic, or go straight to a hospital.

🛡️

When to call 112 instead

Budacare Medical is not a hospital emergency department. If you have severe chest pain, difficulty breathing, signs of a stroke, loss of consciousness, severe bleeding or another life-threatening emergency, call 112 immediately. Do not wait for a video consultation.

Good to know

When you should come to the clinic instead

Anything that needs to be looked at, listened to, touched or imaged needs an in-person visit. That includes injuries, rashes and skin changes, ear and throat complaints, abdominal pain, and any complaint where the doctor needs to examine you before advising you.

Our clinic is open every day from 8:00 to 20:00 – see urgent care in Budapest for same-day and walk-in options.

Three steps

How a video consultation works

The whole process runs in English, from booking to the advice you leave with.

1

Book a time

Choose a slot on our booking page. Online booking is available at any hour, and payment at the end of the booking process is by card – this card payment confirms your appointment.

2

Speak with the doctor

The consultation runs in English. Describe what is happening, since when, and what you have already tried or been told. Have any documentation you brought with you to hand.

3

Agreed next steps

The doctor explains what your symptoms suggest, whether an in-person examination is advisable, and what a reasonable next step would be – an appointment at the clinic, a diagnostic examination, or care at a hospital.
